POS TERMINAL KEYS-DESCRIPTION

DEBIT
This key is used to begin a debit transaction. The customer must have a bank debit card for the terminal to accept debit cards before this function will work properly.

CARD VERIFY
This function is not currently used.

INITIALIZE
This key will perform an initialization that will dial the INIT TEL NUMBER located in the function 2 fields.
This is done to process any changes made to your software profile in the Term Master.

Confirm that the terminal i.d. number in the function 2 parameters matches the actual number under which the terminal profile is built. A complete software change will be done with a full download to complete any initialization effectively.

FUNCTION
This key is used in conjunction with other keys to perform certain diagnostics and terminal operations. For example: pressing FUNCTION + 2 will access the terminals dial parameters.

SETTLEMENT
The settlement key will perform an end of day batch to transmit all credit card, debit card and check sales in the current batch to the host for processing. This should be performed every day. You should be set up for

AUTO BATCH so that this process is done automatically. If you are not sure if you are set up for AUTO BATCH call customer service. The settlement key is generally password protected.

CANCEL
Cancels the selected function and sets the terminal to idle.

BATCH REVIEW
This function enables a terminal user to review each transaction in the current batch. Information that can be found using this function is as follows: Invoice number, amount, transaction type, approval code, card account number, sequence number, and the date and time.

BALANCE INQUIRY
Enables an EBT cardholder to see their available balance.

CHECK
This key will begin a check authorization procedure. The customer must be set up to accept check verification with the appropriate checks before this function will work properly.

ADJUST
This key is used when adjusting the dollar amount of a transaction.

FIND
This will enable a merchant to find a transaction in the current batch using the invoice number as reference.

REPORTS
Allows the terminal user to print one of the following reports for detail on transactions still in the current batch:

1: Claim Log
2: Easy Pay Due
3. Easy Pay All\
4. Audit report
5. General Summary report

VOID
This key is used when voiding a transaction that is in the current batch. During the VOID process, the terminal will prompt for the invoice number from the original receipt. If the transaction does not reside in the current batch you must perform a REFUND and not a VOID.

This key may be blocked or password protected in Term Master.

BACK ARROW
This key is used to scroll through details of a transaction and backspace during alphanumeric entries.

REPRINT
This key enables you to reprint a transaction receipt in the current batch by keying in the invoice number for the transaction. You can reprint the last receipt by pressing ENTER when the terminal prompts for the invoice number.

EMAIL
This key not used.

REFUND
A refund is used by you to credit a dollar amount back to a cardholders account. If the transaction still resides in the current batch of transactions the VOID key should be used.(See VOID)

This key may be blocked or password protected in Term Master.

CLEAR
This key clears current data entered, cancels function selection, or reverse pages forward within the journal.

TOTALS
This function will allow the terminal user to view net sales totals, refund totals, net transaction count, totals, and net transaction count for each card type.

SHIFT
The SHIFT key is used in conjunction with the other keys on the terminal to create alpha characters. You will notice that over each key descriptor, there is a letter. By holding down the shift key, then pressing the key with the appropriate letter on it, the terminal will create this letter on the screen.

OFFLINE
This key is used to ALPHA Lock the keyboard. Also used when re-entering a Credit card transaction manually in the “off-line account mode”.

ENTER
This key will finalize transactions so that a terminal user can proceed. This key also represents “YES” when the terminal prompts for a YES or NO answer.

PAPER FEED
This key will initiate the printer's paper feed mechanism to advance the paper.
